The New Truck has arrived

The New Truck has arrived

The Friday before our own Contest we collected our (new to us) truck.

We'd purchased it the week previous after looking round serveral truck slaes, truck trader, and the internet. As part of the deal we got it MOT'd and taxed. Onto collecting it and we needed to get it taxed, however we had yet to get the certiciate of insurance through the post.

So myself and Mr Biggs, set off at rush hour to DVLA Leeds, crossing fingers and trying to blag a tax disc. I had the certificate on my phone, much to my preconception this was OK, email to this address sir. 5 minutes later we walk out with the tax disc and big smilies.

Back to the truck place with 1/2 hr to spare, onto payment. The cheque had yet to clear and we owed £7,500. Managed to move enough money around and use the overdraft to pay the truck man, he did look worried!. Collected the keys and we had the new wheels.

The previous week I think between me and Trevor spent 30 odd hours calling numerous companies.

Insurance : 1st quote off Royal Sun Alliance was £2,500. After a few hrs we were down to £975. Then I got a call back from Unity (Scout Insurance) for anybody over 25, £487 sir!
Breakdown : started off with a £300 quote, got it down to £85 for the year with 6 callouts., kerching.
Storage : looked everywhere for indoor, no joy, unless we wanted to pay £1,500 a quater! Got a secure location for £300 a year, alarmed, CCTV, and locked.

Got back to Queensbury, loaded the props and off to rehearsal. The Sign Group had very kindly agreed to sign up our new baby, so whilst rehearsing it was all logo'd up for it's 1st public outing on Sunday.

Once the instrument come, it will be racked out.

A massive thank you to the West Riding Freemason's for an extremely kind donation of £20,000 to enable us to purchase the truck & new front line equipment.
